The critical infrastructure that our nation’s most significant sectors depend on is constantly evolving. The industrial internet of things (IIoT) is transforming the power grid, enabling the enhancement of reliability, resilience, and decarbonization. In addition to technology insertion, we must emphasize the need for continuous public-private partnerships. As the threat landscape exponentially grows, mitigating risk to advanced threats requires constant due diligence and collaborative information sharing. As a nation, we must accelerate efforts to qualify and quantify cyber-physical risk in the age of digital, distributed, and renewable energy systems.

Please join Pete Tseronis, founder and chief executive officer of Dots and Bridges and the former chief technology officer at the U.S. Department of Energy, as he convenes a critical conversation hosted by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). This virtual dialogue will explore the complexity of our rapidly transforming critical infrastructure as we strive to achieve a clean energy economy.

Speakers:

Juan Torres
Associate Laboratory Director of Energy Systems Integration, NREL

Adrienne Lotto Walker
Chief Risk and Resilience Officer, New York Power Authority (NYPA)

Jim Hempstead
Managing Director, Moody’s Global Project & Infrastructure Finance Group

The discussion will address the opportunities and challenges spanning government, industry, and financial sectors and how cyber-physical security can fuel innovative sustainability.
